Mick

My name is Mick and I tattoo at Black House Tattoo studio in Prague. I specialise in dark art, graphic tattoos and blackwork with a focus on detail. I am drawn to graphic techniques that help express a mood and stir emotion. I want a tattoo to be something you can look at again and again, and that still feels right to its wearer years later.

Inspiration and style

I draw inspiration from nature, Gothic art, mythology and dark aesthetics. I am attracted to mysterious motifs: insects, snakes, eyes, skulls. These are symbols almost everyone relates to.

I like working with graphic styles and plenty of fine detail. I also create high-contrast black-and-white illustrations with no grey tones, reminiscent of pictures in old books and encyclopaedias.

My work has been shaped by artists such as H. R. Giger, Zdzisław Beksiński, John Baizley, Ashley Wood and Travis Louie. Most of all, though, I am inspired by heavy music and its dark stories.

How I work

Everything starts with a conversation about your idea and references. I find out what inspired you to get the tattoo and which elements you want in the design.

I like drawing dark designs that sometimes resemble nightmares or phobias. That is exactly what makes the tattoo truly personal. I combine my ideas with yours and adapt every step to you, from the design to the healing.

Most of my clients love heavy music as much as I do, so you can look forward to a great playlist during the session.
