Piercing / Nipple piercing
Nipple piercing
Nipple piercings are popular for both aesthetic and erotic reasons and can have different meanings for different people. While it used to be popular mainly in the gay and SM subcultures, today it is enjoyed by a wide variety of people from different walks of life. Nipple piercing accentuates the area, frames the tissue and can increase sensitivity, although it does not always cause the nipples to remain erect. Historically, nipple piercing was practiced by some cultures, such as the Karankawa tribe of what is now Texas, although concrete evidence of the practice dates back to the Victorian era.
Types of nipple piercings
Nipple piercings can be placed horizontally, vertically or at an angle, with the best being placed in the natural folds of the tissue. For well-developed nipples, the ideal location is in the grooves at the base where the nipple emerges from the areola. For smaller or flatter nipples, the piercing should pass through at least ⅜ inch of tissue between the entrance and exit. Some people prefer symmetry and choose to have both nipples pierced, while others are fine with just one. When planning a piercing, it is important to consider the sensitivity of the nipples, for example during menstruation, when the nipples can be more sensitive.
Suitable jewelry for nipple piercings
-
Straight barbells are recommended for starters, which are less prone to problems during healing than rings.
-
The minimum jewelry thickness is 14 gauge, while 12 gauge may be more appropriate for larger or more robust anatomy.
-
The length of the barbell should be adjusted to the size and shape of the nipple, usually 1/16 to 1/8 inch longer than the loose nipple.
-
Rings are not recommended as initial jewelry for wide nipples because they are more difficult to heal.
-
Choosing the right jewelry is key for comfort and safety during healing and for subsequent wear.

Next follows a conversation with the piercer. You will discuss the appropriate placement and jewelry for the vertical nipple piercing, which we will put right away and possibly which you will wear afterwards.
-
Piercer prepares a workplace. The chosen jewelry for vertical nipple piercing together with the needle will be sterilized for approx. 10 min. During that time, you will have the opportunity to ask anything and specify the necessary information.
-
After sterilization, the piercer will indicate the final injection site for the vertical nipple piercing, disinfect the skin and in a few seconds you will have a new vertical nipple piercing.
-
After the piercing, the piercer will treat the vertical nipple piercing, take a picture of it, if you agree, apply a patch and once again explain the care of the vertical nipple piercing.
Nipple piercing healing and care
Nipple piercing takes quite a long time to heal, about 6-9 months. The nipples almost always swell quickly after the piercing and return to their usual size in about 1-2 months. At this point, it is necessary to exchange for a shorter piece of jewelry, otherwise there is a risk of frequent entrapment in the piece of jewelry and subsequent traumatization. Sometimes it needs to be replaced several times during healing, so if you feel that the jewelry is becoming too long and is in the way, you can ask for it to be shortened. When exchanging jewelry for a shorter one, the price of the jewelry is paid according to the current price list, the service is free if it is an initial healing process.
