Tattoo Cover-Up and Repair

Don't like your old tattoo anymore, or didn't it turn out the way you expected? Send us a photo and we'll suggest how to fix it or cover it up.

Our cover-ups and repairs

Is a cover-up harder than a new tattoo?

Yes. The new tattoo has to look good and also hide the old one, so it takes more work. Expect the new tattoo to be larger and darker than the original.

If it is only a repair, such as adding lines, refreshing faded colours or finishing an unfinished design, it is usually simpler.

How to choose a design for a cover-up?

First read our article about tattoo colour. A light shade will not cover a dark tattoo. Even if it seems to at first, the old tattoo shows through over time like a dirty stain.

The new design has to adapt to the old one: its shapes and dark areas must sit on the elements of the original tattoo. That is why not just anything can be tattooed over an old tattoo, for example a portrait over an abstract geometric pattern.

If you choose the design yourself, talk it over with the artist and take their advice seriously. They know what a cover-up can handle.
