Types of ear piercing
There are many different types of ear piercings, each with its own unique look and level of difficulty in both execution and healing.
Lobe piercing
There are two basic types of earlobe piercing: classic and transverse. A classic piercing is done from front to back, while a transverse piercing is done along the lobe. A classic piercing doesn't have to be just one; often several are placed next to each other if the lobe is large enough. It is important to remember that if the piercing is located too high, it can hit the cartilage, which affects the length and difficulty of healing. The piercer must feel the area first. This type of piercing is the most common and generally considered the least painful because the lobe is made up of soft tissue without cartilage. The lobe is richly blood-stained, which can lead to greater swelling, but also to faster healing. Piercings are often performed already on babies, but we do not support this, as it is a procedure that is not medically necessary, and consent to it should be given directly by the person concerned.
Cartilage piercing
This type of piercing is done in different parts of the ear such as:
helix, scapha, forward helix, anti-helix, rook, daith, tragus, anti-tragus, conch, snug.
Those names usually correspond to the anatomical names of the parts of the ear in question.
Cartilage piercings can be a little more painful than lobe piercings, they require more care and attention, they need more time to heal, which is from 6 months and more. Cartilage has little blood supply, healing tends to be more problematic, because during this time some unpleasant event can happen that interferes with the process. In a similar case, it is very important to contact the studio immediately and agree on the next course of action. Cartilage piercings cost more in our studio than lobes, because we accompany you until healing, we are always available to advise and help you.
Double ear piercing (industrial, orbital)
Both of these piercings connect 2 holes in the ear. The orbital can be both on the lobe and on the cartilage, and is connected by a ring. Industrial is done only on cartilage and as jewelry we use either straight dumbbells or bent dumbbells, or dumbbells with a connecting element. Industrial can be both classic and vertical. These types of piercings are quite difficult to heal because we do 2 piercings at once, so we only recommend them to those people who already have some experience with piercings and know that they heal well.
The above types in different combinations and with different jewelry give countless possibilities and variations to express your style and emphasize your unique anatomy. Each ear (like any other part of the body) is different from one person to another, and that's the beauty of it. Get inspired and try to choose something suitable for you and your lifestyle.
How to choose an ear piercing according to lifestyle?
Work environment and dress code. One of the most important aspects you should consider is your professional life. Some work environments may have strict rules regarding piercings and other forms of body modification. Before deciding to get a piercing, make sure you familiarize yourself with the rules of your workplace.
Planned activities such as vacations, visits to the hairdresser, pregnancy, surgery, etc. If you are planning a holiday in nature in the near future (dirt - infection), dyeing (chemical burn) or cutting (hair will get into the piercing), skiing (helmet will push) , pregnancy (change in hormonal background), surgery (reduction of immunity), etc. Only get a piercing done after you're done with it.
Regular physical activity: if you are active and regularly engage in sports or exercise, you must also consider how the piercing will affect your activities. For example, if you are involved in a contact sport, you should probably avoid large or prominent piercings that could be easily injured. If you are professionally involved in sports, it is more appropriate to choose a piercing time during the competition period
Different types of piercings require different levels of care: some piercings heal relatively quickly and require minimal care, while others can take months to fully heal and require regular cleaning and care. Make sure you have enough time and energy to care for your new piercing. So a lobe piercing is incomparable in this respect with a daith piercing, which heals all year long.
Comfort and practicality: if you often wear headphones or glasses, some types of ear piercings may cause discomfort. In the same way, if you have long hair and wear it loose, and a rubber band is something you've only heard of, then that hair can easily get tangled in the jewelry, contributing to infection or trauma. Headphones are often a problem with some types of ear piercing, but this problem can be solved by changing the type of headphones, cheekbone headphones are ideal.
Of course, these are not all circumstances that can affect the healing of a piercing, but try to think if something along these lines will not be an obstacle for you to have a fresh piercing.

Ear piercing procedure in our studio
-
Upon arrival at the studio, you will fill out the "Consent to the procedure", which, among other things, will contain contraindications before the piercing and its subsequent care. The absence of contraindications and compliance with the care procedure recommended by us is one of the important conditions for successful healing of the piercing
-
Next follows a conversation with the piercer. You will discuss the appropriate placement and the piece of jewelry that we will put on now and, if necessary, that you will wear afterwards.
-
Piercer prepares a workplace. The chosen piece of jewelery together with the needle will be sterilized for approx. 10 min. During that time, you will have the opportunity to ask anything and specify the necessary information
-
After sterilization, the piercer will indicate the final location of the puncture, disinfect the skin and in a few seconds you will have a new piercing
-
After the piercing, the piercer will treat the piercing, take a picture of it, if you agree, apply a patch and once again explain the care of the piercing.
Ear piercing healing and care
The length of healing of different types of ear piercing varies from 2 months to a year, read more about each type separately in the individual articles.
The piercing almost always overflows, so we first give a longer piece of jewelry, which we exchange for a shorter one in about 1-2 months. Otherwise, there is a risk of frequent tripping over the jewelry and subsequent traumatization. Sometimes it needs to be replaced several times during healing, so if you feel that the jewelry is becoming too long and is in the way, you can ask for it to be shortened. When exchanging jewelry for a shorter one, the price of the jewelry is paid according to the current price list, the service is free if it is an initial healing process.

Restrictions after ear piercing:
-
During the first two months, clean the site 2 times a day with a sterile saline solution or a special piercing care spray. We can spray the spray either on a cotton swab and then wet it instead of piercing, or we can spray directly on the ear, but this method is dirtier. We wait a little until all the husks soften and then carefully remove them. We do not use any irritants such as alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, antibacterial soap, Betadine, Dettol, etc. Cleaning is done only with clean hands
-
It is extremely important not to sleep on the side where you are fresh. Or if you have no other option, get a travel pillow, put clean clothes on it and put your ear in the hole when you sleep to prevent pressure on the piercing. It is possible to save money and make such a sleeping donut from a large towel rolled into the required shape.
-
For a period of at least 1 month, avoid visiting the sauna, solarium, swimming pool, sea and other public swimming pools.
-
Be careful, avoid any movement, pressure, etc., which would lead to traumatization of the piercing channel. Dress and undress carefully, do not touch the piercing with your hands, remember that dirt and mechanical trauma are the biggest evils for a fresh piercing. Be careful with your hair so that it does not get tangled around the jewelry. Do not remove the jewelry, turn it or move it, the piercing likes peace.
