Contraindications to piercing 

General contraindications to piercing

  • Acute diseases (viral, bacterial, chronic, etc.)

  • Hepatitis, HIV, diabetes, poor blood clotting

  • Severe allergic reactions, tendency to form keloid scars, epilepsy

  • Skin diseases such as dermatitis or other inflammation in the area of ​​the piercing

  • Pregnancy, breastfeeding, hormonal fluctuations

  • Using medications that have a systemic effect on health, such as antibiotics (if so, with medical approval)

  • Other circumstances that could affect the healing process of the piercing

Specific contraindications:

  • Menstruation during navel piercing, intimate piercing, nipple piercing, difficult ear piercing.

  • A lifestyle that does not allow proper care of the piercing (read more about this in the article “Piercing Care”)

  • Hormonotherapy (contraception only in case of the beginning of use and unstable menstrual cycle)

  • Oncological treatment (in remission - after consulting a doctor)

  • Previous or upcoming surgery in the area of ​​the piercing, within a period of up to 2 years, consultation with a doctor is necessary.

  • Before the procedure, get a good night's sleep, and at least eat a little, wear comfortable clothes that will not put pressure on the future piercing and at the same time it would not be a shame to get it dirty, although the procedure is usually performed without blood. Often not a single drop appears, but it can happen.

  • If it is an ear piercing, choose one that you can not sleep with for at least 2-3 months.

  • Other unmentioned contraindications that could have a negative effect on the healing of the piercing or your overall health

Before the procedure, get a good night's sleep, eat at least a little, wear comfortable clothes that will not put pressure on the future piercing, and at the same time, it would not be a shame to get it dirty, although the procedure is usually done without blood. Often not a single drop appears, but sometimes it can happen, in most cases the bleeding stops quickly.
