Preparing for a vertical nipple piercing

Vertical nipple piercing procedure

  • Upon arrival at the studio, you will fill out a "Consent to the procedure", which will include, among other things, contraindications before vertical nipple piercing and subsequent care. The absence of contraindications and compliance with the care procedure recommended by us is one of the important conditions for successful healing of the piercing.

  • This is followed by a conversation with the piercer. You will discuss the appropriate placement and jewelry for the vertical nipple piercing, which we will insert immediately and, if necessary, which you will wear afterwards.

  • The piercer will prepare a work area. The chosen jewelry for vertical nipple piercing, along with the needle, will be sterilized for about 10 minutes. During that time, you will have the opportunity to ask any questions and clarify any necessary information.

  • After sterilization, the piercer will mark the final puncture site for the vertical nipple piercing, disinfect the skin, and within a few seconds you will have a new vertical nipple piercing.

  • After the piercing, the piercer will treat the vertical nipple piercing, take a photo of it if you agree, cover it with a patch, and explain the care of the vertical nipple piercing to you once again.

Healing time of vertical nipple piercing

The process of complete healing of a nipple piercing usually takes between 5 and 9 months, sometimes longer. Complete healing means that the piercing canal is completely covered with new skin.

The healing process of a vertical nipple piercing

Nipple piercings heal for quite a long time, about 6-9 months. Nipples almost always swell quickly after piercing and return to their usual size in about 1-2 months. At this point, it is necessary to exchange for a shorter piece of jewelry, otherwise there is a risk of frequent insertion of the jewelry and subsequent traumatization. Sometimes it is necessary to exchange several times during healing, so if you feel that the jewelry is becoming too long and is getting in the way, you can ask for it to be shortened. When exchanging jewelry for a shorter one, the price of the jewelry is paid according to the current price list, the service is free if it is the initial healing process.

After a nipple piercing procedure, it is important to follow the following restrictions and recommendations:

  1. During the first two months, clean the nipples twice a day with sterile saline solution or a special spray for piercing care. If the nipples start to become dry because of this or there is any other similar reaction, just wash them with clean water (filtered or boiled) by first immersing the nipple in water (you can use a clean glass) or soaking it with a spray, waiting a little until all the crusts soften and then carefully removing them. We do not use any irritants such as alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, antibacterial soap, Betadine, Dettol, etc.

  2. For the first few days, we recommend inserting clean gauze pads into your bra to protect both your underwear and your nipples from getting dirty. If you are not wearing a bra, you can cover your nipples with a sterile bandage, but only until they bleed, which may not be the case. We change both the gauze and the bandage at least twice a day after the piercing has been treated.

  3. Avoid visiting the sauna, solarium, swimming pool, sea and other public swimming pools for two months.

  4. Do not sleep on your stomach during the entire healing period.

  5. Do not play with your nipples , even during sex, for at least the first 2 months.

  6. For the first 7 days after the procedure, avoid exercises that involve working the pectoral muscles and arms.

  7. Wear a bra that does not put pressure on the nipples and generally avoid any movement, pressure, etc. that would lead to traumatization of the piercing canal.

Keep in mind that the initial healing time for a nipple piercing is approximately 2 months. However, full healing can take up to 12 months. This time can vary depending on individual factors, including your personal hygiene and piercing care.

Caring for a vertical nipple piercing

  • Sterile saline solution : For the care of the piercing, a sterile saline solution is required, which you can buy from us or at the pharmacy in the form of sterile seawater for daily nasal hygiene for infants. Do not use alcohol, hydrogen peroxide or antiseptics to treat the piercing (only if necessary and for a limited time, according to the instructions).

  • Treatment frequency : Treat the piercing 2-3 times a day with clean hands using a cotton swab, cotton pad or gauze.

  • Scab Removal : Harder scabs of lymph and blood plasma form around a fresh piercing. Do not scratch them, but moisten them first and gently remove them when they soften.

  • Jewelry Stability : Do not move the jewelry during treatment as this will interfere with healing. Never remove the jewelry for cleaning. Do not touch the jewelry with your hands unless they are washed or disinfected. Avoid touching the piercing with your hands, hair, underwear or clothing.

  • Protection from damage : If you are not sure that the piercing is sufficiently protected from mechanical damage, cover it with a plaster. It is forbidden to visit the swimming pool, sauna and other public swimming pools, including natural ones, with an unhealed piercing.

  • Physical activity : During healing, it is recommended to avoid strenuous exercise that could cause you to sweat a lot or damage your fresh piercing. Sweat, along with the substances you excrete and dirt that stick to it, can lead to infections and inflammation of the piercing. It is safe to exercise with your piercing, but be careful. After exercising, rinse your piercing with clean water and treat it with saline solution.

  • Piercing Problems : If you have a problem with your piercing – it burns, hurts or pussies – contact the studio immediately. For acute cases, call, for less acute cases, write and attach a photo taken in good light so that the problem can be seen. Be very careful when taking a photo with the piercing.

  • Immunity : Piercing is a mechanical damage to the skin, so good immunity plays a big role in the healing process. Take care of your immunity: get enough sleep, rest, good food and walks in the fresh air. Alcohol, drug consumption and smoking worsen immunity and consequently the healing process.

  • Jewelry shortening : Some types of piercings require jewelry shortening after about 6-12 weeks. Sometimes it involves several shortenings. In our studio, you do not pay for the shortening service if you have a piercing from us. You only pay for the jewelry.

Restrictions after vertical nipple piercing

  • Do not sleep on your stomach or on the side where you have a fresh vertical nipple piercing; choose a position where the piercing is not affected in any way.

  • Avoid visiting the sauna, solarium, swimming pool, sea and other public swimming pools for at least 2 months.

  • Be careful and avoid any movement, pressure, etc. that would traumatize a fresh vertical nipple piercing.

  • Carefully put on and take off clothes.

  • Do not touch the piercing with your hands.

  • Remember that dirt and mechanical trauma are the greatest evils for a fresh vertical nipple piercing.

  • Be careful not to get your hair tangled around the jewelry.

  • Do not remove, twist, or move the jewelry; vertical nipple piercings need to be kept still.

  • With a vertical nipple piercing, it is recommended to be careful when washing your hair to avoid tangling your hair.

  • It is also not recommended to play with the piercing, lick it, or expose it to other bodily fluids.

  • In the car, it is important to pay attention to the seat belt to avoid pressure on the vertical nipple piercing.

  • As for the bra, it should be comfortable and not overly padded or decorated with lace to avoid unwanted friction or pulling on the nipple piercing.

  • It is important to be careful when playing sports, especially exercises that involve straining the pectoral muscles. This type of activity could have the potential to push or pull on your nipple piercing. It is recommended to wear a well-fitting sports bra that will provide adequate support and minimize the possibility of uncomfortable rubbing or impact on your piercing.
